Disclosure: I received a sample of Rockin’ Green for free from the sponsor in exchange for my honest opinion.
I’m a cloth diaper loving mama of two little girls. I have been cloth diapering for almost 2 years now and I have tried several different detergents to try to find the just right one for my precious cloth diaper stash, mostly all 100% organic cotton inserts. bamboo inserts, and cotton prefolds. Every time I ended up having the same problems of having build up and what I have come to call “the stinkies”! No matter how hard I tried to get my wash routine just right or how many rinses I did I always ended up with diapers that smelled clean coming out the dryer or line but as soon as my little one wet them we would be slapped in the nose with the over whelming horrible ammonia smell, yuck! And not only that my baby would get rashes from some of the most recommended cloth diaper detergents , this problem had to be fixed. I soon found out that I was working with very Hard well water that was the source of my problems since this was causing mineral build up that lead to smelly diapers. After a lot of research on cloth diapering sites by mamas that were having similar issues as myself, I discovered my new best friend Rockin’ Green!
Rockin’Green is an award-winning manufacture of Eco-friendly and easy rinsing cleaning products designed to make cleaning your laundry easier and greener. Rockin’ Green is most known for the use of cloth diaper detergent, but it can effectively and safely be used as your everyday detergent even on the most sensitive of skin. It was founded by a cloth diapering mama, just like many of us, who wanted to find a better way to clean her diapers that would not irritate her child’s sensitive skin. Hey that sounded familiar, that’s just what I was looking for! Rockin’ Green comes in three custom designed formulas that work with your specific water type. Soft Rock (for soft water),Hard Rock (for hard water),and Classic Rock(for normal water). If you are not sure what type of water you have you can buy a water tester for under $1, Rockin’ Green was so helpful they even sent me a water tester strip along with samples of the three different formulas. All of the different formulas come in deliciously natural and cleverly named scents such as Lavender Mint Revival, Smashing Watermelons, Mötley Cleän, Earth Wind and Orchids, Rage Against the Raspberry, and the unscented Bare Naked Babies.
I was so excited to have the chance to write a review on Rockin’ Green so I could share with my fellow cloth diapering mamas just how great it is! I wish I would have found out about this product from the very beginning of my cloth diapering journey. This is how my first wash routine went using my now favorite detergent Rockin’ Green, I started with a cold wash with no detergent, then I “Rocked a Soak” overnight as recommended with 2-3tbs of my Hard Rock Smashing Watermelons detergent ,smells so yummy ,followed up with a couple extra cold rinses, then to the dryer they go. My diapers came out smelling so fresh and clean. “The stinkies” are no more and we are Rockin Green fans for sure!! I have been using Rockin’ Green Hard Rock formula for over 6 months now and I will never look back to those days of smelly diapers and laundry headaches. I love how all the scents that I have tried so far smell so good when I’m putting my diapers to wash, I still do a quick cold wash w/o soap first and 30minute soak in hot water with 2-3tbs of Rockin’ Green with a cold rinse(soak is recommended for especially hard water like mine), followed by a couple extra rinses, easy as that. This product is now a staple to my golden wash routine.
I can not say enough how happy I am to finally have found a detergent that not only is affordable, Eco-friendly and safe to use on my babies sensitive skin but it actually works on getting my cloth diapers clean and fresh with no left over junk. We no longer have ANY problems with build up or funky smelling diapers thanks to Rockin’Green and their awesome laundry detergent that’s formulated just for your specific water type. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a great detergent to end their cloth diaper laundry problems, or rather to start out using from the beginning so their will be no problems in the first place.
