I hope this verse brings you hope and reminds you that you are a creation of God and made for a purpose. This new year can be a new start for you.

This printable is designed to fit within an 8×10 frame.  I recommend printing on card stock paper or photo paper.  Just open the pdf file, print, trim and display in any space or save the jpg file and send it to your local photo center to print.

Homemade Natural Hairspray + Free Printable Label

Can you boil water? If the answer is yes then you have the skills required to make hairspray from home!  Not only is it simple to make but it is also inexpensive and made with natural ingredients you probably already have in your home.  By making your own hairspray you will be avoiding all the nasty chemicals found in store bought hairsprays.

I honestly do not wear hairspray very often but when I do I want to use a product that is natural and non-toxic. What better way to know exactly what I’m putting on my hair then by making those products myself.  I discovered how easy it is to make a homemade & natural hairspray and best of all it works great! Now I’m sharing how simple it is to make hairspray with you and of course a cute label to go on your bottle because I love to make cute labels for everything!

Homemade Natural Hairspray

A simple diy hairspray using natural ingredients. So easy to make and works great!

Ingredients
  

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 4 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon high proof alcohol like vodka
  • 10 drops essential oil of your preference
  • Recommended essential oils: Geranium essential oil  Lavender essential oil, Peppermint essential oil, Rosemary essential oil and Clary Sage essential oil.  Avoid citrus oils (Lemon, Lime...) as they can lighten your hair if exposed to UV light.

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water.
  • Bring water to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove saucepan from heat and cool.
  • Add essential oil and high proof alcohol to sugar water.
  • Pour cooled sugar water mixture into an 8 oz fine mist spray bottle.
  • Shake well before each use.

Notes

Customize this recipe for the perfect hold for you: Use more or less sugar depending on how strong you want the hold to be.
Add any combination of the essential oils recommended as long as the drops equal 10. (2 of each recommened essential oil, 8 of one + 2 of another...)

Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub + Free Printable Labels

Sugar scrubs make a perfect homemade gift and what scent reflects the Holidays better than Peppermint.  I love making DIY sugar scrubs all year long because they are so easy to make, work great and are inexpensive. In a few simple steps you can make your own Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub with ingredients you probably have on hand already! Plus, I have shared a free printable label!

Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub + Free Printable Labels

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

Simple to make sugar scurb with peppermint essential oil. Smells so good and works great too!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Oil fractionaed coconut, almond oil, grapeseed oil, or olive oil
  • 12 drops Peppermint essential oil
  • 1/2 tsp organic vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil optional

Instructions
 

  • In a medium size bowl combine all ingredients until well combined.
  • Fill container/jar with lid about 3/4 full.
  • Tie a cute ribbon and add printable label & tag to the jar.

Notes

This recipe makes enough to fill an 8oz jar.

Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub + Free Printable Labels 

I created cute and simple labels and an instruction tag to add to your jars to make a simple Christmas gift.  Each page has 8 tags/labels per page.  Just print the label, cut out and place it on the jar. Print them on sticker paper or cardstock paper’ then tape, glue or tie them to the jar.  Also, the instruction tag can be placed on the jar or punch a hole and add it to a ribbon around the jar.   To decorate the jars I used stripped wrapping paper under the lid, tied a ribbon around the jar and added a candy-cane!

Spice Labels free printable from rays of bliss

Now that I buy organic spices in bulk I bought myself a cute little spice rack and needed labels for it.  I created these pretty labels and I am sharing them with you!  Like most my DIY projects I try to make them as easy as possible, so this printable uses the Avery 5293 templatefor their 1 2/3” White Round Labels. If you have the Avery 5293 labels all you have to do is print, peel and stick on!  If you do not have the labels you can print on normal paper (or sticker paper), cut out and stick on to your spice jar. 

Spices Included on print out: Salt, Pepper, Allspice, Basil, Cayon Pepper, Chili, Cinnamon, Cloves, Coriander, Cream of Tarter, Cumin, Curry, Dill, Fennel, Garlic Powder, Garlic Salt, Ginger, Nutmeg, Onion Powder, Oregano, Parsley, Paprika, Red Pepper and Sage.

You can get your spices organized with this set of 24 labels!  I also included a blank sheet for you to hand write any spices not included in my free printable.

Cleaning Schedule Free Printable

Keep a Clean House and NOT hate Cleaning (so much)

When I became a stay at home mom just over a year ago I thought cleaning the house would be so easy, boy was I wrong.  I had no schedule or organization to the whole cleaning process so I was left with a untidy home and feeling like a failure. I would tell my family and friends,  “I thought my house was messy before because I worked close to 50 hours a week but I think I’m just a horrible housekeeper!”

I can’t tell you how many time I would get a phone call, “Hey were in the area and stopping by.” ME: “OH CRAP!”  Then you see me running around the house like a mad woman!

I had to put a stop to the madness and also the feeling like I was bad at keeping a clean home.  I came up with a Cleaning Schedule and it really helps me keep my house clean and bonus I do not totally hate cleaning now!  

After using this schedule it  turns out I actually clean quit well!  I just needed a little structure to keep me on track!

The minimum maintenance is the key.

In my attempt to be better at keeping a clean home I ran across this post, The Secret to Successful Home Management-“Minimum Maintenance” from Home Sanctuary.  

  • Do a quick pick up of each room.
  • This will take maybe 30 minutes. 
  • Includes picking up clothes/toys off the floor.
  • Putting dishes in the dishwasher or unloading the dishwasher. 
  • Quick cleaning of kitchen counters.
  • Quick Sweep if necessary. (I have a 4 year old and 1 year, both messy eaters so I have to everyday.)

 

1 load of Laundry a Day instead of “1 Whole Day of Laundry”.

I found that my frustration with laundry went down a notch when I started to do 1 load of laundry a day, opposed to doing it all on Saturday and Sunday.  My weekends were no fun!

On my schedule there is a line by laundry so you can write what load for that day. I do Monday: Jeans Tues: Clean Bedding Wed: Whites Thur: Lights Fri: Darks Sat: Towels. 

*If I have a lot of darks or towels then I will do 2  loads that day. 

Take a day off!

Now that my home stays pretty tidy and I am not buried in dirty laundry I take Sunday off from cleaning.  OK, I still take care of dirty dishes and make my boys pick up after themselves but for the most part there is no cleaning.

I always play upbeat music or my favorite songs while I’m cleaning. Music really helps me stay on task and not focus on the fact that I’m cleaning.  

 Monday- I clean all the floors in the house. This includes vacuuming all the rooms and hallways.  I DO NOT mop kitchen and restrooms this day. I do that on their detail clean day.

Tuesday- I change all the bedding in the house.  This is also my day of laundry for bedding so I do more than 1 load this day. =(  

Wednesday- Clean all the bedrooms this includes cleaning under beds and other crevices, organizing clutter from dresser and tables, dusting, picking up trash and taking glasses/dishes to kitchen and cleaning mirrors.

Thursday- Cleaning Restrooms this includes the restroom floors. 

Friday- Detail Clean the kitchen this includes a good cleaning of the floors, wipe down all appliances, sink and inside microwave. 

Saturday- Sweep front and back porch and yard work if needed.  Clean the doors glass if needed. My back porch is an outside playroom so I put away and organize their toys too.
